There are those who post and/or publish advance information on

as to (approximate) "sighting information",

Thin-ness of the moon’s crescent

--- In addition ---

Some may pre-suppose that "the new moon" could not be "seen"

due to expected 'technical factors and measurements',

--- and, therefore ---

'they' do not even "look" for it.

--- However ---

"The Qôdesh/Re-NEW-ed Moon"

is to be "seen" by the naked eye

--- especially during the 29^th "yôvm's"/'day's' evening ---

--- just "as a little child would do it" ---

so that any 'technical factors and measurements'

are really not (a proper) part of "the observation process"!

{ "A little child" would simply "look up" to "see"! }

When this author includes an approximate thickness

--- of ---

the expected moon of, say, 1%,

that is done to simply show the beginning re-new-al of the moon

(of three "yâmîym"/'days', usually,)

--- and ---

that during that particular evening

it could/should be "sighted".

The approximate thickness is not given in order to abrogate

--- as an "excuse" for not ---

--- Furthermore ---

the current "moonth" will be 30 "yâmîym"/'days',

--- but ---

there is no "corroboration" that

towards the end of the 29^th "yôvm"/'day'

--- possibly due to 'the expectation' that ---

--- it would be too thin and faint ---

--- and, therefore ---

--- that it would be impossible to "see" ---

'the moon' which occurs at the end of the 30^th "yôvm"/'day'

is TRULY THE "Qôdesh Moon"!

It is then "SUSPECT" that

'the moon' which occurs at the end of the 30^th "yôvm"/'day'

is TRULY "The Qôdesh/Re-NEW-ed Moon"

"Looking" for "The Qôdesh/Re-NEW-ed Moon" should take place

over at least ½ - ¾ of an hour before "dark",

especially if "the moon" isn't "seen" right away,

especially if the sky is cloudy.

Even if the sky is extremely cloudy,

sufficient "time" (and "prayer") must be allowed for "observation"

since correct "sighting" can occur via a break in the cloud cover,

even if only for a few minutes!
